The
voices of thousands of Children in the World of AIDS.
Every 14 seconds, another parent dies of AIDS, leaving behind an orphaned
child. By 2010, the number of children orphaned by AIDS globally is expected
to exceed 25 million. The epidemic is spreading through countries and
across continents, threatening to undermine decades of progress in
social and economic development.
Social support systems in many developing countries are overwhelmed by
this dramatic increase in children and youth without parents.
Devastated by grief and the loss of their parents' love, guidance and
protection, they are increasingly exposed to poverty, discrimination and
severe risks to their well-being. Orphans and children
living in families coping with chronic illness, as well as children infected
with HIV, have less access to education, fewer income opportunities and an
uncertain supply of nourishing food. Now, more than ever, children and
families need global assistance to develop community-based programs -
providing education, health services, food security, income generation
opportunities and other care and support - that will
help combat the devastating impact of this disease.
n June 1990 Dr. Charles Mwape was faced with a question,
With the needs of so many weighing of
n his heart, what could one man do to
make a change to the life of a need Child.? The gentle whisper of God gave him the answer.
The lord gave me of Vision of collective response and be part of the unity
by
becoming part of International Circle of Faith and spread the word of God
through ministry and in His name, Dr. Charles Mwape
formed Hope for Africa to Help the Needy Children though Education, empowerments, food, shelter, medical care, and
transportation in Africa
Recognizing this vision and its program in Africa , The International Circle
of Faith teamed up with Dr. Mwape and create Humanitarian and Social
Services Initiative.

AIDS in Africa background
There is an epidemic of AIDS engulfing much of Africa, especially
sub-Saharan Africa. In some African countries it is estimated 40% of the
working-age population has contracted HIV, with younger and more successful
workers being most likely to be affected. However, this is never uniform
across a population; 40% of a whole African country will mean there are
areas where virtually everyone has contracted HIV-AIDS. The worst affected
countries include Zambia, Nigeria, Zimbabwe and Congo DRC. In places village
after village have no young adults left. The scale of the problem is
overwhelming: please just remember that children are saved one by one and
every contribution or small
regular donation helps us help another child in Africa.
It is hard to know how to approach such a situation. Hope for Africa has
developed a
strategy for AIDS orphans in Africa where we do not move children from
their familiar background but strengthen their community to look after them.
Hope for Africa has projects helping more than 18,000 African Children
orphaned by AIDS in more than ten African countries, and is growing as fast
as you allow us too. We are continually improving our approach with the
exchange of experience and
best practice. Details of more established projects, such as all Child
Link Programme which promotes Community and family reintegration of
Children..
